Are any of these true for you?

"I feel out of control of my life"
"I feel like I am going mad"
"I feel very alone with my problem"
"I get suddenly angry for no reason"
"I just feel tearful all of the time"
"Everything is getting on top of me"
"I feel tired and depressed all the time"
"I don't see a way out of my problem"

...or maybe you have a very specific concern....
an exam, an interview or a driving test?

...then maybe we can help.

It can be very reassuring to know there are ways you can help yourself, ways which you haven’t yet realised. Sometimes all it takes is an opportunity to talk things through. At other times therapy is about helping you to clarify your thoughts and feelings, and to feel confident in taking action.

When too many changes and upsets happen all at once they can reduce our confidence and ability to cope. Current events can bring back painful memories. Sometimes it is hard to be specific about what is wrong but you have a strong sense that something isn’t as it should be. Why struggle through life pretending everything is alright when you could make it better? During therapy people develop the confidence and skills they need to make changes in their lives. Sometimes this involves saying goodbye to old hurts.

What Is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) involves changing feelings by changing the thoughts and behaviours which cause them. Once you have learned the skills of thought management you will be able to apply them to all areas of your life. CBT is research validated and the psychological treatment of first choice for anxiety and depression according to NICE Guidelines. Treatment gains are generally relapse resistant.

Only you can ensure that you live your life to the full. Please come along if you:
  • like to take responsibility for yourself
  • want to feel more in control of your life
Please don't come along if you:
  • want only to talk about past problems rather than present solutions
  • would rather moan and complain than change
  • are not prepared to work between sessions as well as during sessions
  • value explanations and insight more than positive change

We promise to keep sessions to the minimum necessary. Our job is to help you as effectively as we can. Your job is to make us redundant as quickly as you can!

What about confidentiality?

We undertake not to discuss what people tell us except in supervision. Regular supervision ensures that we are supported and our practice is monitored. The only occasions on which we might breach confidentiality is if we believed that a person was a danger to other people; the law had been, or was going to be, broken in a serious way; or a person was likely to harm themselves because the balance of their mind was disturbed.
