Articles and Rescources

If you would like to explore CBT yourself through the use of web based CBT programmes, visit http://www.livinglifetothefull.com and http://www.moodgym.anu.edu.au/.

Articles written by Adam May on how to improve your mental health are reproduced in pdf format below.  These articles originally appeared in Network News, a community journal available online at www.network-news.org.

The most important question to ask in evaluating any therapeutic intervention is “Does it work?” There are two types of evidence to consider in relation to this question:

  1. Your own experience.
  2. Evidence grounded in properly constructed, scientific research.

The only way of finding the answer to the first question is to try out new techniques for yourself and we encourage you to do this. A good place to start is those approaches that have a strong evidence base. In addition to CBT, new, related approaches include ACT and Mindfulness. An approach called EMDR also has a good evidence base, particularly for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We incorporate elements of ACT, Mindfulness, and Focusing into our delivery of CBT.

All practitioners at this practice have training in CBT. Adam May is a BABCP accredited CBT practitioner. Adam May and Andy Lancelot have both been trained in the use of EMDR.
